This Album is from the 6CD boxed set “Fantail Vision”, released on Slowdown Records in 2022. The box consists of six new albums recorded between 2020 and 2022, “animal matiere" is the album positioned as Disc 5. It contains five tracks recorded in 2020~2022, including the outtake of “Animal Liberation - Until Every Cage Is Empty“ (Cold Spring, 2022).
The first and third tracks are the most striking, with layers of synthesizers (or oscillating sounds) forming chords that approach ambient drone. This fusion of harmony and noise sounds much more polished than Merzbow's 2011-2012 style, when he used gadget synths and other sustained sounds, so the more you listen to Merzbow's work, the fresher it sounds.
