The sixth of Merzbow Archive series features material from 1993-1995. This period saw the production and release of some of Merzbow's most well-known and highly regarded works, including "Metalvelodrome", "Noisembryo", "Hole", "Venereology" and "Pulse Demon". These masterpieces have been actively reissued in recent years. For this series, DAT masters were used for all the works, rather than the cassette masters that have been used for most of the previous series, and they have been newly remastered. The DAT masters are of higher quality than cassette masters because the cassette is used as a mother tape and has been edited as a finished product. As a result, the works in this series, including the small pieces, are tightly organized in terms of development, even if they are performed over a long time.
"Bluedelic+" is a collection of outtakes from the 4 CD box "Metalvelodrome". "Bluedelic" is the title of the song included in the box, but it was originally recorded on DAT for a long time, and only the first part was included in the box. This "Bluedelic+" contains a longer version and two extra versions based on the longer DAT master, giving a broader picture of the entire recording than ever before. (The revised version of Metalvelodrome was reissued by Urashima in Italy in 2019, but the "Bluedelic" on it uses a different DAT master, with a different mix and length than the original and the one on this CD.) This CD contains the very raw style of this period, with extremely distorted metallic noises and oscillations jostling with the repetition and swell of delay sounds. In particular, the coarse texture of the sound, which dynamically changes from explosive sounds that resonate in the body to ear-splitting cracks, is extremely appealing as a kind of extreme raw electronics work.

While still sounding harsh a lot of the time, this will not obliterate you like other Merzbow releases. Steady elements give a noob like me something to cling to amidst the chaos. Hans
