The Merzbow Archive series by Slowdown Records, which has released seven editions so far, enters its eighth edition. This edition contains recordings made in 1999, when Merzbow stopped using analog equipment and started working with computers. Since Merzbow would continue to work primarily with computers for some time after this, the recordings from this period can be regarded as the very beginning of his laptop style.
The title of this album is taken from "Wa 30.25" from "Collapse 12 Floors" (Ohm, Norway) released in 2000, and its contents consist of the long mix and re-edited unreleased tracks recorded at the same time (specifically, the second track "Wa 3025L" is the long mix, and the others are re-edited versions of unreleased material). In terms of the continuous radical transformation of sound by modulation, there is a sense of continuity with the sound of the time when synthesizers were the mainstay of the music, but there is also a unique roughness to the sound that is different from analog, and crisp cut-out in sound that can only be achieved digitally. In the fourth track, a drum sample-like sound is boldly used, creating a unique track that could be called hard noise techno that deforms violently.
